What makes a “good” office?

We’ve all been there: everyone gathers in an office or conference room for a meeting – and then we all spend the first quarter of an hour working to get the technology “up and running”. More and more employers agree that a good office is good for business. But what makes a “good” office? Visits to ORGATEC 2018 can see for themselves at the special exhibition area Inspired Collaborations.

For the team behind Inspired Collaborations, one thing is already clear: it’s not the table football or the hottest trend spilling over from the lifestyle area that makes a good office. That’s because a good office puts people at its heart, their need for dialogue, a good atmosphere and technological support that takes account of current flexible working concepts.

The old adage “less is more” is especially true of technology. An excess of devices, cables and remote controls distract from what the office is actually there for: communication and creativity. Technology must be seen as purely a tool and should take second place to the people who use it. This means that intuitive solutions are required that fit discreetly into the overall concept, but at the same time support people in the office in carrying out everyday – but previously often irritating – communication processes, such as tele- and videoconferences, meetings or presentations. Taking a range of very different (work) scenarios, Inspired Collaborations presents spatial solutions that appeal to all the senses and in which the environments and conferencing technology are a tool for inspiring and productive collaborations. And without anyone having to grapple with technical details.

Modern technology can also provide people with support in the background: the latest systems are able to anonymously evaluate the way rooms are used. These systems can identify how often a room is used, by how many people and for what purpose. Not only can this information be used to automatically adjust rooms to suit specific situations, it’s also possible to see what type of rooms are used more than others in order to adapt the available space to meet actual requirements.

ORGATEC premieres never-before-seen products
For a special area of the exhibit, the partners involved in Inspired Collaborations have also held back some never-before-seen products, which are expected to play a significant role in shaping the “good office” in the months and years ahead – but have never been presented anywhere in the world before. Because it won’t be possible to enter this area without first signing a non-disclosure agreement, zgoll: Konferenzraum is inviting registration ahead of the event via info@zgollkr.de.
