With their new "Embracing Age" project, the Danish Design Makers are curating an exhibition at ORGATEC 2026 that shows how modern design can enrich life in old age – stylishly, self-determined and suitable for daily use.

Our society is growing older, remaining healthy, active and socially integrated longer. At the same time, many products for seniors to date seem functional but are hardly inviting.

The Danish Design Makers are accepting this challenge: in Embracing Age, furniture, objects and room concepts are presented that inspire through comfort, a contemporary aesthetic and true suitability for everyday use. The goal is to also enable people an active, independent and proud life at an advanced age.

Around 20 designers develop their prototypes on the basis of a briefing. The ideas are based on real insights: observations, conversations and experiences with seniors flow directly into the design.

Around 30 international companies from the design segment will be incorporated as supporting partners. They accompany the project, provide input concerning the relevance of potential product ideas and are part of the final appearance at ORGATEC – including visibility via digital channels and in the exhibition.

The final prototypes will be shown in Cologne during ORGATEC 2026. The goal is to demonstrate how design can actively contribute to shaping societal change: living longer should also mean living better – thanks to good design.
