Interface has been a pioneer in sustainability since 1994. It all began with the goal of no longer having a negative impact on the environment, which we were able to achieve in 2019. Today, the goal is to become a CO₂-negative company by 2040. The targets set by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) serve as an important
initiative (SBTi), which are to be achieved by 2030.
Over the past 30 years, Interface has made great progress in reducing CO₂ emissions from its products, business activities and supply chain. This includes innovations in product design, manufacturing processes, raw material sourcing and collaboration with suppliers and partners.
Interface offers carpet tile products with the lowest carbon footprint (cradle-to-gate) in the industry, based on publicly available emissions data in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
But there is much more to do. Action must be taken now to address the urgency of the climate crisis. Interface wants to go beyond simply avoiding negative environmental impacts, regenerating our climate and helping to reverse global warming. In addition to focussing on CO2 reduction instead of compensation, it is also important to develop measures to ensure that products remain in the cycle for as long as possible and that resources are continuously reused.
