COR LAB: new designs for collaborative zones

19.10.2018, 08:00h, 3006 characters

Design that sits well: COR

Founded in 1954 and still owner-managed to this day, COR is a medium-sized company that manually manufactures seating furniture for international markets at its Rheda-Wiedenbrück location. The premium brand COR (Latin for heart) is distributed worldwide through high-end specialist and contract retailers. The high-quality furniture, create by renowned designers, is used to furnish apartments and houses, hotels, lounges, embassies, museums, banks and airports. The carefully maintained and continuously developed product portfolio for the residential and contract sector includes sofas, armchairs, easy chairs, chairs and tables.

COR regularly receives awards for its outstanding design and corporate achievements. This sustained success is based on a willingness to innovate, design and traditional craftsmanship. The management, designers, technicians, carpenters and upholsterers at COR share a passion for creating lasting value and quality in a contemporary design, independent of trends and fashions. The modern manufactory in East Westphalia, the heart of the German furniture industry, has a workforce of 220 and trains talented young people on site.

A competitive, consistently innovated and further developed collection, eleven percent sales growth, a seventeen percent increase in contract business: COR achieved success on international markets with these accomplishments in 2017. With an overall result of around 39 million euros in sales, the manufacturer continued to develop positively in all divisions and will continue to achieve this goal in the current financial year. COR's extremely high standards regarding the design and quality of its largely hand-made furniture are to be found in every single piece. Since November 2017, the manufacturer has been carrying the "Blue Angel" eco-label, which certifies all upholstered furniture manufactured as part of the standard collection, following a strict testing procedure. The home and contract sectors benefit equally from this.

Added value: a "modern manufactory"
The creation of collaborative zones determines the product philosophy in the contract sector. Sensuality, intimacy and comfort are transferred from the living area to the office world. With the trend-setting COR LAB collection, six new furniture designs have been created which allow working and living areas to be merged conceptually. The current overall portfolio can be seen for the first time in a new setting at Orgatec 2018. It is aimed at interior designers and architects who are planning offices or real estate and want to realise their very own individual interior design. From each single piece of furniture to complete furnishing, COR can implement almost any creative design, as the basic designs of its furniture can be further individualised according to customer-specific requirements. This expertise combined with comparatively short production periods creates a decisive competitive advantage.

Trade exhibition in the COR brand house
Since the end of 2015, there has been a showroom in the COR Haus in Rheda-Wiedenbrück with around 900 square metres of space for contract partners from all over the world. The target groups for this trade exhibition are architects, planners and interior designers who are looking for an efficient partner for individual furnishing concepts in premium quality. High-quality seating and upholstered furniture for exclusive properties, cruise ships, hotels, trade fairs, airports and airlines will be presented. The exhibition, which is updated several times a year, is interactive, allowing sitting try-outs, comparisons of the various models, designs and materials as well as for work and planning discussions. Visitors are encouraged to make their own associations in order to transfer exhibition examples to their own planning purposes.
